Even with little complications, the school persisted until 26th June 1980, and got registered in the name of ‘Nellaidhoo Maqthab’, in Ministry of Education. Again, on 23rd January 1995, the school renamed in to ‘Nellaidhoo Madharusaa’ and registered as a school for primary and middle school learners. The residents of the island ran the school up until 1st August 2005, and then it became a government school in the name of ‘Nellaidhoo School’. Additionally, it turned out to be a secondary school by the introduction of 8th grade.
